2025
During my Fall 2025 semester, my Intro to Motion Graphics class partnered with the King Manor Museum, a historic house and landmark in Jamaica, NY. Our assignment was to create an educational animation that could be displayed at the museum. My group was tasked with interpreting a historic stove and creating a piece that would teach visitors how it functioned during Rufus King’s time.
As the group’s head artist, I was responsible for developing the storyboard and creating the digital assets used throughout the animation. I also handled the rigging and animation of several assets, helping bring the illustrations to life and ensuring they worked effectively within the final piece.
I thoroughly enjoyed both the project and the process of producing the animation with my group. Everyone contributed to their assigned responsibilities and completed their work in a timely manner, which allowed us to focus on our individual roles while still supporting one another when needed. This experience gave me a new perspective on collaborative work. In previous projects, I have often found myself having to wear multiple hats, so it was refreshing to be able to focus on my own responsibilities while still having the opportunity to help my teammates with theirs.
Through this project, I strengthened my skills in storyboarding, digital illustration, asset creation, and motion graphics while also gaining a greater appreciation for effective teamwork and clearly defined roles.
The Process
Before any animating even took place we needed to solidifying our plan and the assets that needed to be made, or cut out and made into PSDs (Photoshop layers). I drew the storyboard and the digital assets for this project using Procreate
Collectively, my group decided to use digitally drawn assets on still images taken from the museum, creating an interesting contrast with the other animations made by our class. While other members of the group worked on their parts, I made this short logo reveal animation for the beginning of our animation.
